When a Muslim dies what is the process? In christianity there is embalming, washing, wake, funeral, burial or cremation. What is the Islamic Way of removing the dead. I know bodies must be buried underground but whats the process before that, how is the body prepared and taken care of? I welcome links to video's or explanations.
The body is washed in a certain way by someone of the same sex or a spouse. Then it is wrapped and a funeral prayer is offered. The body is buried in a Muslim grave yard as soon as possible, same day is best. The body is placed in the grave facing Mecca also if possible.
If the person died as a martyr then they are not washed and buried as they are after the prayer. A martyr is not just someone who dies is war. In Islam someone who dies from a plague, who drowns, dies of a stomach disease, died of being burned, one who is crushed, during pregnancy and from pleurisy are all considered martyrs.
