Islamic mortuary service?
When a Muslim dies what is the process? In christianity there is embalming, washing, wake, funeral, burial or cremation. What is the Islamic Way of removing the dead. I know bodies must be buried underground but whats the process before that, how is the body prepared and taken care of? I welcome links to video's or explanations.
My boyfriend is Muslim and I asked him the same question. He's from Turkey and showed me a burial service of a Turkish political figure. They don't believe in cremation. They believe in burial and the body does have to be cleaned according to traditions. Then they all meet and say prayers. The mosques play different sounds to make the public aware that there is a funeral proceeding. It's a completely different atmosphere than a Christian mortuary service. I know because I'm Methodist. Yes, I know it's against Muslim religion for them to be with Christian women.
