Is the IRL's move to include the driver's body weight in the minimum car weight a move to protect men?

From drivers like Danica Patrick? Obviously, a race car could go faster if it were lighter, and a driver's body weight contributes to the overall weight of the car.

So is this because men are trying to protect their egos, or is it because 100-pound women can potentially skew the outcome of races in an unfair way?

Yes, I think so. As she was saying last night, an athletes body often has a lot to do with their ability to succeed. A tall basketball player with the same talents as a shorter basketball player will be more successful. A jocky who weights 10 lbs less than his competitor and has the same talents will be more successful.

Now while Danica is an amazing race car driver and has broken many barriers in the racing as a whole, not just open wheel...either she or the makers of her car, don't have the same talents as many of these men. If either one did she would be winning every race.

I think it would be interesting to hear IRL's reason for this. Perhaps there is a great need for increased safety due to lighter drivers.

EDIT- gee BS...I mean geebs, I am not a feminist, but thanks for the assumption, it makes you look like an even bigger a$s. Shouldn't the racer's athletic ability and physical condition play toward their own benefit? If Danica is so has such an advantage...why hasn't she won?
