Urn Outs

urn outs
What should I do with my mom's emptied urn? (please be nice...)?

My brothers and I are going to spill my mom's ashes soon (those were her wishes) and we need to do something with the urn once we're done. This is an elaborate marble and brass urn she bought for herself before she died and her ashes have been in it for five years now...

We're spilling her ashes in the Smoky Mountains (again, her wishes) and have no idea what to do with the urn when we're done. I've looked online and found no articles on the topic and am pulling a blank when I try to come up with a solution on my own.

Please help me out if you have any ideas... and please don't be mean or disrespectful to my mom... She was an amazing lady and was nice to just about everyone she met. I'd like to treat her ashes (and urn) with the same level of love that she gave so freely in her life.

Thanks in advance for your ideas and opinions :)

I'm sorry for your loss. The urn sounds lovely. I would suggest planting maybe one of mom's favorite plants in it. Draw straws to determine who gets it. That family keeps it for a year, and then at Christmas next year gives it to another family member.

You could keep this tradition going for a long time ;)

I lost my grandmother earlier this year and I got some of her ashes in a tiny urn. Part of me wants to scatter the ashes under an orange tree she planted probably 30 years ago and that produces the sweetest navels you can imagine - but I'm torn, also, on what to do with this tiny thing. I suppose I could just keep it where it is as a reminder, but I dunno...

Again, I'm sorry for your loss.
