City Palace Jaipur

At the heart of the beautiful pink city Jaipur lies this beautiful City Palace built by Sawai Jai Singh during his reign. It is one of the famous tourists attractions of Jaipur and a major land mark. It occupies an important place in the history of forts and palaces for its astonishing blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. The palaces occupies a huge area and divided into a series of gardens, courtyards and amazing buildings. The palace is divided into two parts,- one part is the Sawai Man Singh museum and other part is still the residential palace of the maharaja.

Attractions of the palace- Except the museum of Sawai Man Singh there are Textile, Art Gallery, Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Badal Mahal, Shobha Nivas & Sukh Nivas, Chhavi Nivas & Mukut Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple. And ofcourse the two silver urn at the centre of the palace make the tourists wonder.

Mubark Mahal – The Mubark Mahal is inside the Palace complex, an excellent building built by Maharaja Madho Singh. Diwan-i-Am or hall of public audiences and Diwan-i-Khas or hall of private audiences, marvel paved gallery are with in the building. This Mahal has a curved marvel gate, which has got brass work on either side of the gate. Here on the Mubark Mahal lie down the famous silver urn s. These are the largest silver urn in the world.

Chandra Mahal- The Moon Palace or Chandra Mahal is at the centre of the Palace. It is the main attractions of the palace. The mirror and mina work in the fourth floor of the building is wonderful. The complex contains an excellent museum, an armoury and several fine halls. It is also known as the Hall of Beauty. A part of the Chandra Mahal is still occupied by the present Maharaja. The ticket to see the Chandra Mahal is very expensive. It costs Rs. 2000/ per person. So those who can afford to see the place is really a life time experience.

Chhavi Niwas – Hall of Images or Chhavi Niwas is on the fifth floor of the Chandra Mahal. This floor has wonderful architecture with polished floor and blue and white painted walls, it was also the retreat of Maharaja during rainy season.

Mukut Mahal – The top most floor of the Chandra Mahal is named as Mukut Maha. All the floors of the palace has different names and beautifully designed.

Govind Dev ji temple – Opposite to Chandra Mahal is the Govind Devji temple. The temple is between the Badal Mahal and Chandra Mahal. The temple of Govind Dev ji is a must visited place while visiting City Palace.

Hawa Mahal - Hawa Mahal is also a integral part of City Palace but it stands away from the main complex. The unusual architecture of Hawa Mahal lures each and every tourists of Jaipur.

City Palace in Jaipur is a center of attractions. The huge area, wonderful architecture, priceless museum, etc. The museum here has extensive collections of dresses, costumes, weapons of Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II. There are wonderful paintings in the museum of Mubark Mahal. A visit ti City Palace of Jaipur gives glimpses of the Royal Life Style.
